Flow-CAST®
Flow-CAST® is intended for the determination of basophil activation in a white blood cell fraction. The basophil activation marker CD63 exposed on the cellular surface upon stimulation will be detected by means of flowcytometry.
This test enables not only the detection of IgE-mediated allergies but also the so-called pseudo-allergies which are not IgE-mediated. This latter kind of allergy is best known for Aspirin (ASA), non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and various other drugs or food additives.

Main applications for the Flow-CAST®
The CAST® assays can be used for the confirmation of any IgE mediated allergy with controversial results from classical testing (anamnese, skin testing, spec. IgE). Further information about specific fields of allergy ask for independent testing on Cellular Allergy.
